Digital Media

Here you'll find examples of my on-camera video work, video editing, marketing asset creation, and more.

Major Video Projects:

On-Camera Examples:

Earthless Demo Livestream

One of the most powerful ways to boost discoverability on Steam is to strategically use livestreams during high-traffic events like Steam Next Fest. To promote the launch of the Earthless gameplay demo, game director Hoi-Fung Ma and I did a 1.5 hour livestream that we then ran 24/7 on the Earthless Steam page.

What I did:

  • Oversaw creation of graphical overlay & assets
  • Audio & video testing and setup
  • Acted as livestream host & interviewer
  • Video editing & post-production
  • Publishing & social media promotion

Into The Breach Gameplay Preview

This unscripted preview of Into The Breach is one of many examples of video work that I’d routinely do for PC Gamer. Consider it a live demo, as I played the game and explained its systems in a single take, and then only did a bit of post-production to clean up my commentary or edit out pauses or stutters.

What I did:

  • Captured gameplay & audio commentary simultaneously
  • Edited, published, and promoted the video

PC Gamer Convention Interviews

As Senior Reporter, one of my favorite aspects of attending conventions like PAX and E3 (R.I.P.) is interviewing developers about their upcoming games — often on camera, with a crew that I am directing. In this example from PAX 2017, I am talking with the devs of Dauntless.

What I did:

  • Booked & coordinated interview schedule
  • Directed video crew on-site, consulting on film location, content, etc.
  • Wrote & rehearsed interview questions
  • Conducted interview & consulted on video editing and post production

Other Related Examples

I was a frequent co-host on The PC Gamer Show, PC Gamer’s weekly podcast that — for a time — received front-page Twitch promotion.

I’ve been asked to guest on many other podcasts too, most recently The Back Page Podcast, a games industry podcast by journalism legends Samuel Roberts and Matthew Castle.

Marketing & Social Media Samples:

XDS Banner Ads

I created these ads for display on the External Development Summit’s networking website prior to the event.

Warframe Social Media Content

At Digital Extremes, I launched and grew Warframe’s Tiktok Channel to over 30K subscribers in just a few weeks — with several videos reaching well over 100K views.

I also was responsible for building monthly content plans for all social channels, including creating new campaigns like the TennoGen Showcase, which cast a spotlight on the amazing user-created content in Warframe (leading to increased awareness and sales of those items).

BBI Social Media Content

Though it’s less of a priority, I still go out of my way to create and post funny videos to Blackbird Interactive’s social channels.
